WebApplicationVulnerability.jpg The security of the various systems and the protection of data in the internet world has always been a burning issue, having become widespread because of the rapid and universal deployment of web technologies.

Recent surveys conducted in the year 2016 show a particular increase in the existence of high significance vulnerabilities in modern systems. Vulnerabilities of this kind are now found on the majority of websites worldwide. Specifically, according to the survey carried out by Acunetix on 45,000 websites, combined with 5,700 network scans conducted from April 2015 to March 2016, they show that not only 55% of the websites have one or more vulnerabilities but also that the current situation has deteriorated in the past year, showing a 9% increase in the occurrence of this type of vulnerability compared to previous year's reports.

The results of the survey are summarized below.

55% of web applications contain high-risk vulnerabilities such as XSS or SQL Injection.

84% of them were susceptible to at least moderate vulnerability, such as CSRF.

Javascript vulnerable libraries (which expose a web application to XSS attacks) have doubled since 2015.

Nearly 8% of all scanned networks detected a high-risk vulnerability.

The numbers speak for themselves and make it clear that attacks on web applications are issues of major importance to the global online community, while the wide range of impacts and effects that these attacks may have make it a priority for immediate addressing them.
