David Heinemeier Hansson is the instigator of Ruby on Rails, as it came from his job at Basecamp, a project management tool. It was originally released as open source in July 2004, but in February 2005 other developers were able to give their code. The most important point was when Apple announced that Ruby on Rails was going to be released along with Mac OS X v10.5 in August 2006, and released in October 2007.
